The client RealUnit Schweiz AG is a investment company that focuses on assets like physical metals, swiss company shares and physical cash. As a listed investment company, they don’t only want to inform their prospects and stakeholders, but also have to fulfill certain obligations due to compliance rules. So for example, they have to show Adhoc-News. Furthermore, they asked to display press releases, corporate news and a event based financial calender. They wished to display these informations thoughout different locations of there website. The news based data also required a document download possibility.
This is a perfect usecase for custom post types. I created two custom post types: One for the news based data and one for the event based data. The event based “Financial calender” just contains 2 fields: the event date and the title. The other post types is buildt with 3 categories, so it is possible to display the different types of news (corporate news, adhoc-news and press releases) in different locations and grids. This Post Type also contains a field to attach a file, which the enduser then can download (news as pdf or a zip folder). In the end, I created different grids that show the information in various locations of the website and coached the client how to add new events or news. All he has to do is to put in the title and date or upload a file. I love the possibilities of custom post types, because you can just create everything with it and the client is able to create new listings, events or news spontaneously, as they are so easy to edit, once they are created properly.
